Between Homes
A survey by the London Assembly Housing Committee
Are you in between jobs and having to stay with friends? Have you ever been kicked out and had nowhere else to go? Don't have a place of your own to call home? We want to hear from you!

The London Assembly Housing Committee is investigating insecure accommodation in London and we're asking Londoners to tell us about their experiences.

We've created a survey that shouldn't take longer than 2 minutes. We won't record your name, email or any other identifying details so please be as open as possible.

If you want to skip any question just hit enter. Don't forget to press 'Submit' at the end.
Thank you for taking part.

Do you currently live somewhere that you consider to be your home?

In the past 2 years has there been a period of more than 2 weeks when you haven't had a permanent place to stay? *

We would consider a permanent place as somewhere that is secure, over which you have a legal right to stay (for example, through a contract) and you are not at risk of being asked to leave within 2 weeks.
* This is a required question

When you were without a permanent place to stay, where did you stay instead?

Thinking about the past 2 years in total, what were the reason(s) you were without a permanent place to stay?

That's good to hear. The London Assembly Housing Committee is investigating 'hidden homelessness' in London. Surveys suggest that more than one in five 16 to 25 year olds stayed on a friend's sofa in 2014. Have you ever had someone stay at your house because they had no other place to go?

This could be a friend, colleague, family member or stranger.

Would you mind telling us a little more about that? Who stayed with you and for how long? Why did they not have a permanent place of their own to stay?

Please don't tell us any details that would identify you or others.
If you don't want to give us more details, just hit enter.

Adding together all the times you were without a permanent place to stay in the past 2 years, how long in total were you without a permanent place to stay?

Thinking about the past 2 years, on how many separate occasions were you without a permanent place to stay?

We consider a separate occasion as a block of time you were without a permanent place to stay before you found a permanent place to stay again.

While you were without a permanent place to stay did you seek support or advice from a council, charity or other service?

Including local authorities, homelessness charities, women's services, LGBT support services and advice lines.

Where did you seek support or advice from?

What was the name or type of organisation you sought support or advice from? How many times? Where did you hear about this organisation? Were they helpful?
If you don't want to answer, press enter.

Why didn't you seek support or advice about your situation?

Thinking about the times you were without a permanent place to stay in the past 2 years, how far would you agree or disagree that you felt safe?

If you have been without a permanent place to stay on more than one occasion, please tell us about your feelings in general over the whole period you were without a permanent place to stay.

While you were without a permanent place to stay, did you consider yourself to be homeless?

Please tell us some more about your experience.
Why did you not have somewhere permanent to stay? Where did you go? What was your experience like?

Please don't tell us anything that might identify you or others personally.
If you don't want to, just press enter.

Almost finished! Finally, please tell us a little more about yourself.

We're asking this information so we know which groups of people need help the most.
